Coach Pitch

Coach Pitch

The Beaver Dam Youth baseball program’s mission is to make sure that our players enjoy the game of baseball; nothing more, nothing less. Along the way, we try to teach the fundamentals of baseball, teamwork, and the confidence to succeed.

Boys ages 5-7 . This is an advanced division of T-ball for boys to continue playing baseball. This division uses a coach pitching to give boys experience hitting the ball out of the air. This division uses RIF-5 (Reduced Injury Factor) softer baseballs.  Some advanced defense and team skills are also incorporated to help players transition to the next baseball division. Games will be played on Friday evenings beginning in middle May and ending in late July. Boys 5 years of age signing up for this division must have at least one year of playing experience with BDYBS. Boys 6 years of age with no experience should sign up for T-ball. Boys 7 years of age with no experience should play in the Coach Pitch league.

In the Beaver Dam Coach Pitch League every player plays both the field and at the plate. Our League does not focus on the score as much as the fun of the game. Score will not be kept. Coaches and Parents should help reinforce the idea that while winning is a goal, playing your best, working together as a team, and honoring the game are the most important parts of the program.

League Guidelines

  1. Soft baseballs will be used.
  2. Every player plays in the field. Please rotate positions as often as you can in order to keep our players interested and teaching the kids new positions.
  3. One player will be placed at each infield position except catcher. The remaining players will be placed around the outfield.
  4. An inning consists of a team’s entire roster batting once through the order.
  5. Strikes and balls will not be counted. After five (5) pitches from the coach and a maximum of three (3) soft toss the player will hit off a tee.
  6. Runners will advance one base at a time. The last batter will be allowed to advance around all of the bases.
  7. There will be No stealing of any bases.
  8. There will be No leading off by base runners.
  9. Base runners will remain on base, even if they are out.
  10. Once the game starts, all players are to remain in the dugout or on the playing field. Players should not be sitting in the bleachers or going to the Snack Shack during the game.
  11. Game time limits are 1 hour. No new inning will start after 50 minutes.
  12. Batting helmets must be worn any time a player is on the field batting, or running the bases.

SAFETY Guidelines

  1. There will be No “warming up” with a bat. Players must stay in the dugout while they are waiting their turn to bat
  2. BDYBS uses lighting Detection Equipment. If a storm is detected within eight (8) miles of our fields, the game will immediately be suspended and players and families will be asked to take shelter. Once the threat has passed, if the fields are still in playable condition, the game will continue.
