Tee Ball

Dear BDYBS Tee Ball Parents,

The Beaver Dam Youth baseball program mission is to make sure that our players enjoy the game of baseball; nothing more, nothing less. Although we will be separating the kids into teams and playing games each week, this program will mainly consist of fun, fast moving drill rotations and game situations where the focus will be on proper positioning, fundamentals, hustle, and building positive attitudes.   There is a time and place for competition and for winning and losing; this is not the place.  Our goal is for each player to leave our tee ball program with a basic understanding of the game and a foundation on the fundamentals or hitting, fielding, throwing and base running and most importantly, a feeling of confidence when they step out onto the field.

For some of you, this season will be your first taste of what our program is all about.  I encourage you to take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the website.  This year our parks will be the second home to over 500 local boys and girls, along with their families.  I encourage each of you to get involved, volunteer, and visit our concession stands often.  Also, please take note of our many sponsors, whose contributions make it possible for BDYBS to have a thriving organization and a quality program.

Co-ed ages 4-6.  This is a starter division for all boys and girls who want to play baseball and softball.  This division uses RIF-5 (Reduced Injury Factor) softer baseballs.  Games will be played on Friday evenings beginning in late May and ending in late July.  Boys or girls age 6 that have no playing experience in BDYBS leagues should sign up for this division to gain experience playing in a structured environment.

In the Beaver Dam Tee-Ball Division every player plays both the field and at the plate. Our League does not focus on the score as  much as the fun of the game. Score will not be kept. Coaches and parents should help reinforce the idea that playing your best, working together as a team and honoring the game are the most important parts of the program.

Best Regards,
Aaron Gruenewald

League Guidelines:

  1. Soft baseballs will be used.
  2. Every player plays in the field. Please rotate positions as often  as you can in order to keep our players interested and teaching the players new positions.
  3. One player will be placed at each infield position except  catcher. The remaining players will be placed around the outfield.
  4. An inning consists of a team’s entire roster batting once through the order.
  5. Players will hit off a tee.
  6. Runners will advance one base at a time. The last batter will be allowed to advance around all of the bases.
  7. There will be No stealing of any bases.
  8. There is No leading off by base runners.
  9. Base runners will remain on base, even if they are out.
  10. Game time limits are 1 hour. No new inning will start after 50 minutes.
  11. Batting helmets must be worn any time a player is on the field batting, or running the bases.

Safety Guidelines:

  1. There will be no “warming up” with a bat. Players must stay in the dugout while they are waiting their turn to bat.
  2. BDYBS uses lighting detection equipment. If a storm is  detected within eight miles of our fields, the games will  immediately be suspended and players and families will be asked to take shelter. Once the threat has passed, if the fields are still in playable condition, the game will continue.
